I'm putting together a sample application where I show how to do a round trip to the database. In it, you will see that the user has to login, there is an audit trail of the changes made, there's even a trace log of all the programs and functions that are called. Lastly, there is a diagnostic program that calls every function to see if everything is working.

I started programming in High School back in 1976.

After earning a Bachelor's degree from Ball State University (double major in Computer Science and Journalism), I moved to Hickory, NC and started working for Hickory Chair as a "microcomputer" programmer.

Over the years, I taught at both local community colleges (CVCC, CCC&TI), and really enjoy having the chance to stand up in front of a classroom and try to show the enthusiasm that I have for the profession. I don't know what students say once they leave the classroom, but inside I've found that students are genuinely respectful and are willing to do whatever their assignments are - I just have to be clear on what's due!

In 2006, I earned a Master's degree in Library and Information Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and am currently an adjunct professor at Lenoir-Rhyne University.

Outside of Lenoir-Rhyne, I work at Atlas Computer Resources as a database architect. I specialize in ColdFusion, SQL Server, CSS and jQuery. Scott Wimmer and I had worked on side projects for years and years writing mostly barcode scanning software. At one point I called him and said that we should really make a go of it - which is exactly what we are doing right now.
